The Université de Rouen Normandie has put in place a number of measures to optimize work organization and improve conditions for URN staff. To achieve this, it uses the following levers:
Working hours
Schedules and vacations
At the Université de Rouen Normandie, work is spread out over the academic year (from September1 to August 31 of the following year), depending in particular on students’ periods of attendance or leave.
A full-time BIATSS employee (permanent or contract) works a 37.30-hour week with 55 days’ leave, i.e. 11 weeks per academic year, or any other equivalent combination: 35.00 hours per week and 40 days’ leave, or 39.00 hours per week and 62.5 days’ leave.
BIATSS staff are required to work 37.30 hours a week, i.e. 7.30 hours a day, as a general rule, over 5 working days for a full-time employee. The compulsory fixed shift runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., i.e. a minimum of 6 hours and 15 minutes minus the compulsory 45-minute lunch break. This daily schedule may include a 20-minute break, considered as time worked, if the employee works at least 6 hours during the day.
Fittings
URN offers a number of different working time arrangements. In particular, it is possible to work part-time. Technical service staff can work different hours, depending on service requirements (staggered working hours). Pregnant women can also benefit from flexible working hours.
Teleworking
Telecommuting is a way of organizing working time and space for employees who wish to carry out part of their duties away from their assigned premises. Capped at a maximum of three days per week, and prorated according to the number of hours worked, telecommuting can now be carried out on fixed days, floating days or a combination of the two.
Support when taking up a new position
Tutoring
At the end of 2023, as part of its policy of providing individualized support for career paths, the University of Rouen Normandie set up a tutoring system for permanent and contract BIATSS staff. The aim is to welcome newly-appointed staff, facilitate their integration and help them adapt to their new job. The scheme can also be used to support staff who, as part of their career path, require specific professional support.
Welcome day for new staff
Every year in September, URN welcomes its new staff on a special day. On this occasion, a number of presentations about the University are given on various themes. Campus and laboratory tours are also offered, as well as workshops.
